Join The Conrail Historical Society for a work session and train ride on an authentic Conrail caboose!
The CRHS invites our members to join us for a Conrail Day and work session on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the Landisville Railroad, a local freight-only shortline located just west of Lancaster, PA. Former Conrail N11 caboose #18452 was purchased from The CRHS last year by a private owner, and it is now being restored to full Conrail paint!
The event starts at 10:00 AM and runs until 6:00 PM. CRHS members in attendance will be scraping and sanding old paint and working to ready the caboose for a new coat of dress blue. Lunch (from a local pizza establishment) will be provided by The CRHS free to all members in attendance, although donations are appreciated. Feel free to bring your own tools (scrapers, sanders, work gloves, safety glasses, etc.), but some will also be available from the Landisville Railroad. Additionally, the railroad will supply cotton gloves, safety glasses, and dust masks.
The CRHS 2nd Quarter Membership meeting will take place after lunch. At the end of the afternoon, members will be treated to a ride aboard the caboose along the 2-mile freight-only railroad. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to ride a Conrail caboose along a rare stretch of track!
This event is open to CRHS members ONLY, because our insurance will only cover CRHS members in attendance. NO EXCEPTIONS, including spouses and children (unless you have a family membership).
